How Does an ETG Urine Alcohol Test Work?

The direct metabolite of ethanol alcohol is Ethyl Glucuronide (EtG) which can be used as a bio-marker for ethanol exposure. When alcohol is consumed our bodies metabolize it into ETG which can be detectable as soon as 2 hours and up to 80 hours after consumption. The likely hood of detecting a positive result does depend on certain biological factors relating to the persons weight, metabolism, amount of other food eaten or water drank prior to drinking alcohol, amount of alcohol consumed, and length of time it occurred.

ETG Test Dip Procedure -collect a urine specimen from a donor in a collection cup -Read the temperature strip to ensure it is between the correct range -Remove the cap from the ETG test and submerge the absorbent strips in the urine -DO NOT pass the arrow on the strips when submerging the urine alcohol test card this can flood the test and invalidate it -After the line in the C (control) region appears you are able to read the T (test) area
